The Full Story of joy
About
Joy Lam, a fresh Communication and Media graduate from the University of Leeds,
is a magician who always loves to create the sweetest memories for others.
She landed in the UK in 2022, a little nervous but full of curiosity, and soon found this place her second home filled with the same warmth and care she knew growing up in Hong Kong.
Three years later, not only is she now an ambitious young with a degree and countless vibrant moments in uni,
but she is also fully equipped with professional knowledge
and hands-on experience in marketing and event management
which makes her always ready to dive into the working world and see where this next adventure takes her.

Passion
Joy’s spark for marketing and event management was lit in her second year of university, when she gathered a group of passionate individuals who shared her cultural roots and wild ideas, and together, they ran a student society for a year.
It all started with a bit of chaos:
a welcome event where 30 undercover "spies" showed up and only 8 actual freshers made it through the door. The rundown was messy, the execution was all over the place, and the night ended in confusion and laughter.
Somehow, that disaster became one of their most bittersweet and unforgettable memories, and the fuel for everything they built after.
Fast forward to February 2024, and Joy’s team pulled off MonopoLeeds, their flagship event, with 200+ attendees, over £1,200 in net profit, and a 100% satisfaction rate.
It was their first real win, and it meant everything.
Planning engaging campaigns is never easy, but for Joy, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing people truly enjoy the moment and walk away with memories they’ll treasure. That’s when she realized: this is what she wants to do, not sit at a desk all day, but craft experiences that turn ordinary time into something unforgettable.
Ambition
In the summer of 2024, Joy turned curiosity into action and took her first big step into the world of corporate marketing and event management. Her journey began at the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), a tech- and innovation-driven organization that became her very first guide into the business world.
As part of the in-house marketing and events team, Joy was hands-on with everything, chatting with corporate clients to get to the heart of what they needed, pitching creative ideas she truly passionated and believed in, and running campaigns from the initial promotional poster to the final feedback form.
It was a summer of firsts, made even more memorable under the mentorship of her supervisor and her tiny-but-mighty team of three “small potatoes.” While the 10-week program gently nudged some of her teammates to reconsider their career dreams, Joy found herself diving deeper, happily lost in event plans, ad drafts, and venue setups for the next big thing. That experience didn’t just build skills; it confirmed what she already suspected: this is where she thrives.Marketing and event management isn’t just a job, it’s the path she’s excited to follow after graduation.
